Foxes in Fiction

ABOUT

Hello and thanks for visiting my website, my name is Warren Hildebrand and I live in the Brooklyn neighbourhood of Bushwick. Before moving to New York I lived all my life in and around Toronto, Ontario and it’s various suburbs, except for three years that I spent living on a farm. I’m the sole member of the recording project Foxes in Fiction. I like tape machines, cooking, caring for plants and drinking tea. At the time of writing this I’m 23 years old.

I co-run a label called Orchid Tapes. In addition to Orchid Tapes I have released music through Moodgadget Records. I have been recording as Foxes in Fiction since I was 15 and been making music since much earlier.

Foxes in Fiction began as a audio sample collage project that I started at the age of 15 while living in the bucolic Toronto suburb of Oakville, prompted by a love of tape machines, field recordings and digital manipulation. The projects ambitions continued in that incarnation until 2009, when Foxes in Fiction was rethought and reconsidered following the sudden death of of my 16 year-old brother in 2008. The new direction of Foxes in Fiction sought out to combine elements of pop, compositional experimentalism with looping, and ambient music in an effort to create a  listening experience that provided people with a deeply comforting and psychological healing feeling, like that that I experienced from certain music during my times of suffering.

This site is mainly a place for me to post news, free music, my photos, or other things that I find interesting. Thanks for reading and listening.
